    The Tudors

Tuesday, March 4, 2008, 01:12 PM CST [General]

Anyone watch The Tudors on Showtime?  I simply love it and am greatful it's coming back soon!  I need more!!  The whole cast is wonderful and there looks to be some great additions to this season as well.  Plus, I simply think Jonathan (I know it's spelt differently from that but forgive me for not remembering correctly) does a wonderful job in the role of Henry.

P.S. He has a GREAT butt!  LOL...what, I'm female and will take note of these things.

    Is it faire time yet?

Monday, March 3, 2008, 01:49 PM CST [General]

All this talk of faire is getting me excited for the new season.  That of which I shall begin by attending the Greater StL faire.  Still, it can't get here quite quick enough!

In the meantime, I have begun talks with a friend about traveling abroad sometime early next year.  We are talking of going to England, Ireland, Scotland and France.  Maybe stop for a bit in various locations.  The possibilities are open!  And, with it being a good year before we go, we have plenty of time to get things planned out properly.

I can't tell you how exciting it is to have someone I know rather well to want to travel abroad with me.  I do love my family so, but traveling with a friend I do believe will be much more enjoyable.  In the meantime, another friend has turned me on to getting my passport.  Tis easier than I thought.  I also need to revisit Barnes & Noble to start picking up some books to begin my research!

May also have to put a jump on the self-paced French course I was thinking about.  Definitely don't want to go over there not knowing anything and just expect them to understand me.  That problem happens all too often here on our own turf.

    Back on track, I think

Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 08:27 AM CST [General]

Now that I'm back in a regular Monday - Friday 8 to 4:30 job (hate it, by the way) I can once again refocus on getting back in school.  Being that I'm 27, I feel more at ease when I take night classes b/c I'm not with the kids right out of high school.  We get a few here and there, but during day classes, it's the other way around.  Not that I really care b/c I do keep to myself in class, but I don't know, it's the mind set of older students I like to be around.  Weird?

I can once again start paying off the loan I owe and get back in by Fall, fulltime.  Hopefully I can once again apply for financial aid, but if for some reason I miss that cutoff deadline (they be walkin' thee plank regardless) I can take a few classes that I can pay for on my own.  Since I'm not yet fulltime here, I can't do any kind of reimbursement through the company.  Stupid!

Everyone wants you to go to school to prove to them you are smart, but it literally costs an arm, a leg and probably a kidney too while we're at it, just to pay for classes...not to mention books on top of that.

I am going to focus on English and Writing this time.  I threw around the idea last time I was in and once I took the Comp II class, I really enjoyed writing on a whole new level.  It was mostly my teacher's fault b/c he was great.  I still keep in contact with him and he teaches a creative writing class.  You can bet I'll be looking for his name when I go to sign up for classes.

Ugh, sign up for classes.  *nerves abound*  I don't mind class, or homework (if you can believe that) but the tests always ALWAYS throw me off.  I'm just not a good test taker.  Give me multiple choice and I can talk you into how each answer can be right.  I need to learn how to eliminate the wrong answers and pick the correct one.

But I digress.  I also want to take a foreign language.  Sometimes I feel like a fool not knowing any bit of any other language.  Idealy, haha, I'd love to learn ancient Egyptian, but since that's not really a course you can take at a community college I think I'll start with French.  Maybe down the line I can learn Latin and work my way to trying to figure out Egyptian.  Maybe...*sets sights REALLY high*

Writing will be my main focus though.  And history such as renaissance and medieval studies.  Maybe I'll do a major/minor type of thing.  I really do enjoy classes and learning so the idea of spending time to learn what I'll love is actually okay with me.

Maybe I'll start off slow on the next semester and work my way back up to a full schedule.  I think that might be smarter.  Just to make sure things work out and all.  I mean, I have to have time for faire in the Fall and all!..oooh rhymes!

    Renfest aside...

Monday, February 25, 2008, 08:54 AM CST [General]

Any Dragoncon goers out there?  This will be my first year attending, actually attending any con for that matter.  I'm very excited to embrace the new experience, which is what I'm going for first and foremost.

Nevermind my constant excitement now that Adam Baldwin aka 'The Man Called Jayne' was recently added to the guest list.  I know I know, he could still have to cancel at anytime given other commitments, but alas, I am still excited at the possibility of meeting him!!  Freaking Casey from Chuck people!  LOL

Just another thing, besides faire that I'm overly joyed about this year!

Whoever said money can't make you happy?

Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 02:39 PM CST [General]

Well that person, was wrong!  While I still have yet to receive my first paycheck since starting this job three weeks ago, my second paycheck was already posted to my account.  I didn't realize we could do direct deposit, they didn't bother sharing that tidbit with me.  Someone here at the office used to work for this temp agency and said they used it so I looked into it.

So, low and behold, when I checked my bank account today, cringing as I logged in b/c I was certain it was going to be negative, it was in fact up a few hundred bucks!  Needless to say, I've been happy and having a GREAT day ever since.  Not that I'm thrilled by this next bit, but, I can actually go home and pay bills!  And, I should get my other paycheck tomorrow (the brilliant people put the wrong zipcode w/ my new address), so they say, so I can definitely pay everything that is past due as well as coming up.  I'm gonna pay them all in one swoop so I'm caught up.  Then, I can start to save up a bit so I can go get my taxes done and get that money back to really be back in the game!

Oh yes, money made this pirate quite happy today.  Then again, I am a pirate and we do so like it when we get our hands on the gold!

    How was YOUR day?

P.S. Do people not really comment alot here or am I just that boring with my blogs?  LOL...sorry, this is my escape at work since I can't get onto LJ and InsaneJournal just isn't the same without knowing having anyone I know there.
